2nd and 3rd shows I ever went to, and I had to watch the second night under the watchful eye of my Dad who was not a 'head.

The quality of these two shows can't be overstated. The energy of 11/1/85 can only be match by the utter power of the "Morning Dew" Phil Bomb in the second set of this show.

So grateful that I could be at these shows and got to enjoy 10 more years of great concerts.

Saw 84 and 85 Richmonds, crazy venue with great sound and shitty police presence! The 85's were amazing and 11/2 was a great follow up to the monster night before! UJB/China D/D-S/Dew was just killer, all great versions.....playin outro after CD!

Subject: Rising up to Paradise
There's one comment I'd like to add to this show...

About a minute into Estimated Prophet Candace activated a cyalume glowstick pyramid she'd previously assembled and attached to one of the lighting wires. Slowly it rose up from the soundboard, and moved toward center stage, just as Bobby sang the words "Rising up to Paradise, you know I'm gonna shiiiiiinne." It hovered there for the rest of the show.

I remember Phil being dressed up in slacks and a button down, collared longsleeve shirt. It was as though they were putting their best foot forward - definitely not "throwing-away-saturday night."

Never looked back after a few years of the entire catalogue of Led Zeppelin in 8th and 9th grades. This bootleg and 4/18/82 from the Hartford Civic Center are the two that broke me! Again, Never looked back and here I almost 35 and listening to dead shows this day in history on a consistent basis!

China Doll, Morning Dew, and Baby Blue- Jerry at his '8o-finest in '85

Subject: i love this recording
i had just started taping earlier this tour and was sitting on the floor of the coliseum with my little sony d6 and a crappy hand-held mic, dead center, in the sweet spot, waiting for the show to start. these guys came over and asked if it would be ok if i moved so they could setup and offered a patch in return. it's worth downloading this show for the dew alone.

Subject: An All Around Very Nice Show
I can't wait to get home and get this one. I've never been a big fan of China Doll, but the version on this is wonderful, same goes for "Dupree's". I had tapes of the previous show for a long time but had never heard this one..very enjoyable.

Subject: weir's here
what i've always liked about this show is the way weir jams along with garcia and lesh before drums. those outro jams in estimated and uncle john's demonstrate a mastery for which weir is/was capable. too bad he wasn't always on like this. it adds a dueling quality to these melty off-kilter jams.

for my two cents, that ensemble quality (and the dew) is what really makes this show stand on it's on two legs despite the shadow of the previous night. starting in '86, i wore out several copies of this night. surprisingly, i've listened to it far more than 11/1, and i was at that show, not this one. go figure.

this is by FAR the best recording offered here.

Subject: Better 2nd Time Around
Having seen both these shows, I remember being only so-so about this second show, which I now attribute to the hangover from what had happened the night before. That show had taken more energy from than any other show I've been to before or since. Now this show, on listening to it now, I realize is an outstanding show on its own. I had the sbd of this before, but it was too heavy on the high end and had a good amount of hiss (obviously not 1st gen); this one, however, is much fuller and cleaner doing a much better job of capturing the quality of the show. I agree with the other reviews here, but would add that the Aiko is also one of the better ones you'll hear. Coming out of the Coliseum that night I would have given the show only 3 stars, hearing it now with the quality of this recording I am going up to 5.

Damn.

Folks, in my very humble yet strong Opinion....this has got to be one of the most Powerful moments of this year...if not the mid-80s.

To see (or hear) what I'm referring to, check out the China Doll. The FOB source is better because it gives a better....SPOOKIER....sense of Jerry at his depth-best.

This guy played with his heart on stage.

AMAZING.

Subject: Nice show, good sound, fits on 2 CDRs easily
This is a nice show. The other one, by the famous Oade Bros. has Bertha cut at the beginning and the sound just isn't as good.

I agree that 11-1-85 was a better performance, but this is pretty good, too.

Also, this is formatted to fit on three CDRs, but I added d2t01 (Iko, Iko) to CDR1 and it came to 65 minutes, while everything from Estimated> on fit on a second blank at 74 minutes. In addition, there's a natural break between Iko, Iko and Estimated, so it's a good place to make the cut.

The audio quality on this is clear, as are all the instruments. Good job on taping!

Subject: Great show
This show is a real gem. The intensity of the first jam in Estimated is awesome. The way the music flows from this into UJB is really nice jazzy fusion and during UJB Jerry unleashes the demons hardcore. China Doll is a sweet landing into Drumz and the space is very musical; the alien landscape into Morning Dew. And this is one of the heaviest Dews I have heard. Jerry cranks up the distortion and gets down towards the end of the jam. Incredible stuff. This is one of the first bootlegs I ever heard (along with 3/24/87) and it converted me from a metalhead into a deadhead. I couldn't believe this music was playing out there in the world. I never looked back. Still one of my favorites.

I tried downloading the full show...didn't work, just like the previous night.

Download it song-by-song if you're looking for the lossless recording...

also, this is the better quality AUD source, as previously noted...
